Detailed program

Day 01. Luang Prabang arrival

Arrive in Luangprabang, transfer to hotel for check in. Overnight in Luangprabang.

Day 02. Luang Prabang visit

We will take a short visit to the morning local market near the Royal Palace. At the market, you can find anything from rice, to fresh vegetables, to steamed fish, frogs, and anything else that might be the day’s catch, just set up on the ground, this is what the locals do every day. This is really the chance for you to get a real flavor of the local culture. We then visit Wat Visoun, dating back to 1513 during the reign of King Wisunarat (Visoun), this is Luang Prabang’s oldest temple and was once home to the Prabang Buddhas.
We then transfer directly to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest trails.
Before returning to Luang Prabang, we stop to visit the Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park (closed on Tuesday, and from 03rd May to 19th June every year), one of the must-visit spots, where you can have an optional 15 minute tour to learn about butterflies and local flora. Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, we will take a short visit to the Ock Pop Tock Living Craft Center, where you will have a short tour so you get information about Silk, about weaver, about the Women that work in the Centre.

Day 03. Luang Prabang - Nong Khiaw

After breakfst, we will travel by boat up the tea-colored waters of the Mekong River to the Pak Ou Caves. The caves are home to hundreds of statues of Buddha, big and small, that have been left by devotees. You’ll be amazed to see how many are crammed in.  Along the way, we will make a stop at Ban Xang Hai village where rice wine is distilled. We will visit the caves of Tham Ting and Tham Phoum which house hundreds of Buddha statues. We return to Luang Prabang in the afternoon, and continue to visit Ban Xang Khong, a village well known for silk hand-weaving and traditional Saa paper-making.
After visiting the caves, return downstream to Luang Phrabang.
After lunch on your own, depart by minivan to Nong Khiaw (it takes around 3.5-4 hours).
Arrive Nong Khiaw, check in and take a rest. Overnight in Nong Khiaw.

Day 04. Nong Khiaw - Muang Ngoi - Nong Khiaw

After breakfast, we cruise up the river to Muang Ngoi. Along the way we stop off to visit several different ethnic villages. We actually pass straight through Muang Ngoi at first and pay the village of Ban Sop Jam a visit. This village is famous for its traditional Lao silk and cotton weaving, here you can purchase some beautiful textiles if you wish. After spending some time in the village we turn around and return back downstream to Muang Ngoi. Upon arrival we take some time to have a break and a coffee before heading off on a small trek which takes us through some gorgeous scenery consisting of limestone cliffs, mountains and rice paddy fields. Along the trek we visit a historical cave which was used as bomb shelter by the local during the second Indochina war. Upon returning back to Muang Ngoi we board our boat for the cruise back down the river whilst watching the beautiful sunset over Nong Khiaw, arriving back just before dark.

Day 05. Nong Khiaw - Luang Prabang

After breakfast, exit the road to Luang Prabang and visit some villages along the way and prohibits Nayang, where it is still recognized as one of the best preserved ethnic villages in the area, known for its textile production. Continue until arrival at Luang Prabang at noon.
If the afternoon, we enjoy a tour of the city's oldest temple, Wat Mai, Wat Praphoutahbat and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong where you can see the impressive “tree of life” mosaic set in colored glass. We’ll visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 06. Luang Prabang - flight to Hanoi

Today, we transfer to the airport for flight to Hanoi. Transfer to hotel for check in. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 07. Hanoi visit

We have a full day to visit the today capital of Vietnam. Hanoi is famous for its verdant tree-lined streets, colonial architecture houses, charming monuments and its people's interesting lifestyle. We start with the visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and his stilts house where we can learn about his modest-but-great life, then Tran Quoc Pagoda. Then we discover the Temple of Literature dedicated to Confucius and his disciples. This is also Vietnam's first university founded in 1076. On the same day, visit of Ethnological museum. Enjoy a water puppet show in the evening. Overnght at hotel.

Day 08. Hanoi – Halong

After breakfast in hotel, we set off to Halong Bay on a scenic highway with immense rice fields through the heart of Red River Delta. In Halong city, we embark on a private boat for a full afternoon cruise among more than 3000 limestone islands scattering up from emerald water of this spectacular bay. Ha Long Bay was recognized as a Natural World Heritage by UNESCO in 1994 and is worldwide known for its unique landscape endowed by the nature. We explore 1 of beautiful cave and have opportunity to take nice pictures while we are climbing up the Ti Top Mount from which we can get a stunning panoramic view over the bay. At the end of the day, we cast anchor in the bay and stay overnight on boat. Fresh seafood meal is prepared on boat by our professional cookers. Crabs, shrimps, squids, fishes are all delicious.

Day 09. Halong - Hanoi - flight to Danang - Hoi An

The next day, white sand beaches appear gradually as the tide goes down. You will have opportunities for sunbathing or kayaking. Around 11h at noon check out and cruise back on land. Then, we transfer to Yen Duc Village- you will have chance to contact with local people, discover country life style and having lunch at Mui’s house. Then transfer directly to airport to catch flight to Danang. Guide and driver pick up at the airport and transfer to hotel in Hoi An for check-in. Stay overnight at hotel

Day 10. Hoi An visit

Full day visit Hoi An. In the morning, departure for My Son, Cham Royal' valley, symbol of Cham art, constituted of eight group building and Khe Te brook. Back to Hoi An for lunch
In afternoon, we arrive visit Japanese Covered Bridge, Chinese's street, Phung Hung's house, market and ancient port. Finally, we visit Chuc Thanh's pagoda - the oldest pagoda of Hoian (1454), built with Chinese bonze.

Day 11. Hoi An - Go Noi Village halfday

8h00: Welcome by guide and driver then transfer to the village of Go Noi located 15 km west of Hoi An. Meet with Phap who is part of the collective that started organic vegetable farming. Visit their house with the pigsty and the stable for cows. Start to cycle through the village and the rice fields.
Arrival at the organic plantation composed of chilli peppers, water bindweed, salad, basilica, spinach, squash and edible chrysanthemums. You can try some agricultural work such as vegetable harvesting, planting, weeding, tilling the soil, watering or fertilizing crops with organic compost.
Cycle to a small pier at the Thu Bon River and board a local boat. After 10 minutes of crossing, arrival at the pumpkin and watermelon farm belonging to the collective. They are grown in sand at the edge of the river. Harvest a pumpkin or watermelon (to eat it later) and return by boat to the pier.
Before arrival to mr Phap’s house, visit a wood carving workshop. Enjoy a small try to have a better understanding about this beautiful handicraft.
Cycle back to Mr Phap's house and have lunch with the family in a typical and authentic atmosphere.
In option: preparation of a typical dish the” banh xeo”.
Note:
  • The wood carving workshop is closed every Sunday, the 1st of september, the 30th of April, 1st of May and tet vacation -> this activity will be replaced by the preparation of the banh xeo
  • For the month of October, November and December, the local boat tour and the harvest of pumpkin/watermelon will be replaced by the preparation of the banh xeo

Free at leisure, until we transfer to Danang airport for your departure flight. End of services.
